Cup and league points for Panthers with home win over Devils

The GMB Nottingham Panthers picked up two points in both league and cup with a tidy win over the visiting Cardiff Devils on Tuesday night.

There was a home debut for NHL forward Anthony Stewart and a returning debut for Guy Lepine on defence but it was veteran David Ling who grabbed the headlines with his first hat-trick in the UK.

He scored in the seventh and 19th minutes of the first period as the Panthers outshot the visitors three-to-one.

The domination continued in the second and third periods as the shot count continued at a rate of more than two-to-one although Devils got back into the game early in the second before a Matt Francis powerplay goal restored the two-goal cushion in the 27th minute.

Ling bagged his hat-trick in the third before a Devils scrambled goal distorted the scoreline, David Ling joins us on Panthers Radio (with Xynomix), to hear him just click on the link. Katie Chadburn's pictures are with us below.
