GMB Panthers sign Defenceman Charles Landry

Solid defenceman, Charles Landry, with a wealth of AHL experience on his CV, has put pen to paper for the coming campaign.

Landry, still only 23, has links with Tampa Bay Lightning on his resume and Panthers head coach, Corey Neilson, is convinced his latest recruit will prove to be a great asset especially with his strong skating ability combined with the new rules coming into force, which will create bigger end zones.

Neilson has received nothing but great scouting report on his latest recruit.

Corey said: “Landry is a 5’11” right handed defensive defenseman who’s greatest asset is his skating ability. He’s a good puck mover who is described by Leigh Salters as “super steady”. He spent his first three professional seasons bouncing up and down between the ECHL and AHL. He’s just completed his NHL 2-way contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning and their affiliate team in the AHL.

"With the new Blueline Rules we wanted to take advantage of the space as much as possible meaning our D have to be top-level skaters with the ability to pursue pucks in their corners, get up the ice quick to close down opposition, and also join the play.”

Recent Panthers signing, Maxime Parent says: “Panthers' latest signing can play both the left and right sides as he did last season. He's not the biggest guy but he's strong and gritty. He's the kind of guy that's hard to play against. He will be one of the hardest workers on the team and he is a great person.”
