GMB PANTHERS WINNING START AT HOME IN THE LEAGUE

Former Panther Sami Ryhanen gave the visiting Stars the lead against the run of play but David Clarke's flukey equaliser, short-handed, at 13.13 proved not just to be unlucky for Dundee but the start of a domination on the scoeboard as well as on the ice.

Nottingham outshot the visitors 19-6 in the first period despite the 1-1 scoreline, and they continued to outchance the visitors in the second, 19-6 again, and in the third by 18-6 for a shots on goal tally of 56-18.

It was only a matter of time before the home side took the lead and David Ling on his home debut circled the attack zone before firing home and a well worked move saw Matthew Myers sweetly deflect home, upstairs, to double the lead.

In the third, man of the match Ling added another sweet goal after ghosting passed the Stars' defence and Bruce Graham's hard feed to the crease on a late powerplay saw David Clarke jam home his second of the night to round off the scoring in a convincing win for the GMB Panthers.

Head coach Corey Neilson said afterwards : "It was a solid first weekend, and something to build on and you can see the guys getting used to each other more and more, shift by shift. I'm satisfied but obviously there's a long way to go."
