Panthers plan to set the “Juice” loose aboot oor hoose – debut tonight?
The GMB Nottingham Panthers have signed Canadian winger Greg “Juice” Jacina. The 31-year-old is on his way to Nottingham from Norway and if everything falls into place should debut against Edinburgh at the Capital FM Arena at 7pm tonight.
A club spokeswoman said this morning : “People were working late into the night sorting out paperwork, flights, pick-ups, visas and the like after a contract was agreed late yesterday afternoon.
“It’s a lot like the Joe Grimaldi signing and Greg is coming to us from the same team, Rosenborg, who have been doing everything they can to help make his debut for Nottingham tonight happen. It all came to fruition late in the day and that has put us in a race against time to try to get everything in order. We’re waiting to hear about clearance but the signs are good.
“Ice Hockey UK have more than played their part too so hopefully all the ‘phone calls and the effort will pay off and Greg will be able to debut tonight. He's on his way that's for sure.”
Known as “Juice”, Greg Jacina played 14 times for Florida in the NHL and had three seasons in the AHL with San Antonio and Rochester. He’s played in Italy where he won the cup with his team, and he has also put up good numbers in Sweden, Finland, Denmark and this year in Norway.
Meanwhile fans will be able to pay on the door for tonight's Rapid Solicitors Elite League clash sponsored by JORDAN DENTAL. The action starts at 7pm at the Capital FM Arena.
