Two more signed up

The GMB Nottingham Panthers today (Friday May 9th) announced the return of popular British duo Geoff Woolhouse and Marc Levers.

Back-up netminder Geoff Woolhouse has proven himself to be one of the most capable British goalies in the league. He had nine games last season and posted save per centages and goals per game averages on a par with the best in the league.

Head coach Corey Neilson said today: “It is vital that a team hoping to do well has all the key positions covered in case of injury or emergency, in Geoff we have all seen what he can do. He is a capable and likeable young man who works hard on and off the ice and who fits into the locker room really well. He’s has proven he can live at the Elite league level already and we are looking to him to grow and grow as his game develops.”

Derby born Marc Levers learned his ice hockey in Nottingham before his career took him away from the East Midlands. He returned last year to the GMB Panthers and had his best year yet in the pros including ten goals and fifteen assists.

Said Corey : “Marc had a great season last year, he works hard and draws other teams into penalties. He enjoyed his time back in Nottingham and we’re looking for more development from him next season.”

Fans tend to think of players like Geoff and Marc as local youngsters because they’ve been around for a while and both of these guys played with the juniors in Nottingham, but Marc is now 27 and Geoff is 23, so their return and their experience is a vital part of maintaining continuity within the squad and building on recent successes. Coach Corey Neilson continues his negotiations with other prospective signings and we will be making more announcements shortly.
