Fabulous road win to start campaign!

The GMB Nottingham Panthers make their home debut on Sunday on the back of a super 2-3 win at Newcastle.

Netminder Verner was the star of the show for the Vipers as the GMB Panthers outshot the hosts 22-48. In a one-sided first period Kevin BERGIN netted on a double-powerplay.

The hosts equalised in the second but Matt MYERS rapped home a rebound to restore the advantage in the third only for a double-powerplay equaliser for the home club to restore equality before a powerplay goal by David CLARKE proved to be the GWG in the closing minutes.

Johan Molin was named man of the match in a solid team effort which saw the guys sticking up for themselves (the gloves came off four times along the way) and dominate from start to finish and but for the home goaltender the margin could have been much bigger. A winning start for coach Corey Neilson and his new look GMB Nottingham Panthers.

Elsewhere Sheffield lost their home opener against Edinburgh (1-3),  Belfast beat Cardiff (5-3) and Manchester won at Hull (3-4). In the cup Coventry won at Bsaingstoke (2-4).
