TWO LATE GOALS FOR SHEFFIELD ADDS SPICE TO THE SECOND LEG

The GMB Nottingham Panthers hold a two goal advantage at the end of the first leg of the Challenge Cup semi-final (2-4) and it could have been an even bigger margin.

Panthers were dominant for long spells and the first period saw us jump to a three goal lead with Jay Henderson, Cameron Mann and Marty Gascon on the scoresheet.

David Clarke added a fourth at the start of the third period and it was still 0-4 with three minutes to go when a giveaway cost the shut-out and forty seconds later a converted penalty shot halved the lead.

You can hear Jay, Kevin St Pierre and coach Corey Neilson on Panthers Radio as they look back on the cup game and forward to a crucial weekend of league action starting with the visit of Hull on Saturday at 7pm to the TrentFM Arena.

Jay Henderson had a solid debut and simplY does what it says on the tin - with a gritty style and excellent support play.

It wasn't a classic Sheffield-Nottingham clash by any stretch but the GMB Panthers did what they set out to do and ended up bringing back a two goal lead, something everyone would have settled for before the game.
