Panthers add third goalie to roster

The GMB Nottingham Panthers have added top Czech prospect Jindrich Pacl. The 21-year-old netminder is part of the Orli Znojmo organisation in the Czech Republic who play in the EBEL league alongside the top teams in Austria plus teams based in Hungary, Italy and Slovakia. The six feet one inch keeper has played for his country at all junior levels and has been in the top three ranked netminders in the Czech Republic every year since he was sixteen. He has been on the radar of several Czech Elite teams but his home club have high expectations for him which was evident during negotiations with them. Former Panther Petr Kalus, who plays at Orli Znojmo, recommended Pacl to the Panthers where he will team up with Miika Wiikman and Dan Green on the last line of defence. Panthers have been talking with the player's agent and his club for several days. Those talks came to fruition across the weekend. It is hoped the two clubs will build a lasting link up to each others' benefit. Panthers finished last season with three goalies on the roster and it helped the club to lift two trophies. Said GMB Panthers head coach Corey Neilson: "This formula worked well for us last year. We can play around within the number of 'imports' when we have injuries, there are a lot of games on the schedule and having three netminders will allow us to give appropriate rest and recovery." Panthers' head coach meanwhile has one more signing to make. He has a number of exciting options to choose from but an announcement could be a few days away as he awaits the outcome of trial camps in North America before making his final decision.
