Panthers sign versatile Swede Erik Lindhagen
Nottingham Panthers have signed 28-year-old Swede Erik Lindhagen for the upcoming season Although listed as a forward at the start of his professional career Lindhagen is equally at home on the blueline where he has played in recent times. GMB Panthers' head coach Corey Neilson has done plenty of research on his latest recruit and reckons he fits the bill: "Initially we've added Erik to the defence corps but he can play any position up front as well and has played in the top leagues in his home country including their Elite divisions. "His references show him to be a fast and skilful skater with good vision and an ability to read what's going on out on the ice. "Having the ability to play forward as well as defence means we have cover in the event of injuries and it also increases competition for ice-time in both departments too. "He won gold medals at junior level too, so he knows what it takes to be a winner. I've talked to former teammates and former coaches and they all like him and recommended him as a potential winner with the Panthers." Lindhagen, who was with Timra in the tough Allsvenskan league last year, is scheduled to debut for Panthers in the Aladdin Cup when Nottingham take on Braehead at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham on Saturday. August 20th. Tickets for that game go on sale from Monday.
