Poppies to be added to Panthers' shirts on Friday

The GMB Panthers will be wearing poppies at the game on Friday at home to Coventry. The match falls on Armistice Day and the club have again invited the Royal British Legion in to sell poppies for the weekend. We had sellers at the game last weekend and we've had a batch of specially crafted woolen poppies made up which will be added to the team jerseys for the game on the 11th day of the 11th month. A club spokeswoman told the website today :"We always invite the poppy sellers in at this time of year. We saw the news coverage about the row in football over the national teams being allowed to wear poppies. This is nothing to do with politics, it's just the right thing to do. Our players will wear their poppies with pride at the Panthers home game on Friday with the blessing of everyone at the club and in the sport. "Please support the poppy sellers on Friday if you haven't already done so. Thank you!"
