Sixteen thousand plus to see Panthers-Steelers back-to-back clashes

After a crowd of more than nine thousand saw the GMB Panthers win a five goal split in Yorkshire on Boxing Day (2-3) the sides meet again at the National Ice Centre for a Christmas Tuesday four o’clock face-off. A sell-out seven thousand crowd is already guaranteed for the second festive meeting of the sports’ biggest rivals. Tuesday’s game is sponsored by the AJKM Hockey Barn which is hosting the Brian McGrattan training days for youngsters in February. Brian McGrattan is also one of the stars of the Hollywood movie Ice Guardians which the Panthers are showing in conjunction with the makers at the East Midlands Conference Centre on January 4th and 6th. Tickets for the showings which will include a special brochure, a Panthers’ new short film and a question and answer session will be available from the foyer and the Panthers desk on Level Three at Tuesday’s game. Also on sale at the match will be the last of the Christmas replica jerseys in the dinner-jacket-style. We’re selling the replicas in a bid to cover all the costs of the team jerseys which will be worn on Tuesday and again at the home game on New Year’s Eve (3pm v Coventry). The game-worn jerseys will later be auctioned off to raise funds for this year’s club charity HEADWAY. There’ll be a fifty-50 draw at Tuesday’s game with a cash prize AND we will be running the usual shirt raffle. The prize for this raffle and the one on New Year’s Eve will be one of the game-quality jerseys of one of the guys currently ruled out through injury or illness. This way all the game-worn jerseys will go into the auction in the New Year to maximize our chances of raising as much money as possible for the charity. Meanwhile, the raffle winners at the two games will still be getting a unique piece of memorabilia which will be handed over by the player at the team locker room after the two games.
