TEDDY BEAR TOSS BID TO HELP LOCAL YOUNGSTERS IN NEED

GMB Panthers annual Teddy Bear Toss has had another early boost with another sponsors' donation today. ETS tyre services have given us a pile of their gorilla soft toys to add to our collection which already includes some stunning donations from a private collection and a batch of soft toy trains from East Midlands Trains. ETS staff are pictured with just some of the dozens of bears that will join the rest we gather at the teddy bear toss at tomorrow's big game. Fans are urged to buy a soft toy....bring it to the game wrapped in a plastic bag...and to celebrate Panthers' first it will be Teddy Bear Toss time and for the only time in the entire season we want to see stuff being thrown onto the ice. A club spokeswoman said today: "Our fans are brilliant at supporting events like this, the soft toys rained down last year and the Salvation Army will be on hand to whisk them away and then distribute them to kids who otherwise might not get anything for Christmas. Obviously we'd like to see Panthers score early doors and we've got a lot of volunteers on stand by to clear the ice as quickly as we can when it happens, and we have contingency plans in place too whatever time it happens. "The Salvation Army does sterling work helping people who are less well off, below the breadline and in some cases much worse. We all know how much having something to cuddle can mean to a young child, we've all got or know little ones who have a favourite soft toy that they take everywhere with them, we're hoping to create thousands of new friendships with our donations that will go out across Nottingham and the surrounding area. "In advance of tomorrow's Teddy Bear Toss we'd like to thank everyone who takes part."
