Neilson reaction to blank weekend in Belfast

Coach says special teams were the difference

GMB Panthers head coach Corey Neilson admitted it was "tough" to talk to Panthers Radio with Xynomix after two late, late goals cost his side dearly in the second of their back-to-back encounters in Northern Ireland with the Belfast Giants.

Panthers had fought back from 3-1 down with a great second period effort to equalise, they fell behind again but out-muscled and out-worked the home side in that middle period to deservedly go into the final period on level terms at 4-4.

Two late failures on powerplays and a missed penalty shot whilst short-handed left the game tied going into the last minute where Giants pounced with 22 seconds left and then again on the empty-net for a 6-4 victory.

Special teams was the difference, said Neilson.
