The Nottingham Panthers defenceman JC Brassard spoke with Panthers Radio - in association with Xynomix - after training today.
Panthers are preparing for a two-game weekend in the Elite League with a trip to Altrincham to face Manchester Storm on Saturday (4:45pm), before hosting Cardiff Devils at the Motorpoint Arena on Sunday (4pm).
The rink in Altrincham is much smaller than home ice at the Motorpoint Arena and Brassard says it's something Panthers have to be aware of.
"The main difference in Manchester is there's a lot less time to make plays and obviously it's very small," he said.
"We have got to be focused from the start and shoot everything, that's the important part."
Sunday's match at home to Cardiff is the second time in six weeks that the two sides will have met at the Motorpoint Arena, with Panthers skating to a 5-2 victory last time.
Brassard says home support can be vital to the team in these big matches.
"We know we have to do our bit, but it really helps to have the crowd on your side," he said.
"When they are cheering and making noise there is no better place to be."
Brassard was part of Matthew Myers' testimonial game on Sunday which saw past players - including David Alexandre-Beauregard, David Clarke, Gui Lepine and Marc Levers - return to take part.
"It was awesome to play in the game and talk to those guys - and to see what it was like back in the day," continued Brassard.
"A lot of them still have it and are pretty damn good. It was great meeting those guys.
"It was nice a day for Matthew and we were all happy to be a part of it."
Sunday's fun at the Motorpoint Arena came less than 24 hours after Saturday night's 5-4 win on-the-road at Dundee Stars, which saw Brassard score the overtime winner.
"It was great to get the win for the team and to be the guy that put the puck in the net," said Brassard.
"We showed some great energy and our level of play was high. It felt really good and hopefully can send us in the right direction for the rest of the season."

One adult and two teens/juniors = £39 plus arena booking fees
Two adult and two teens/juniors = £52 plus arena booking fees
Two adult and three teens/juniors = £60 plus arena booking fees
