The Nottingham Panthers were beaten 6-1 by Fife Flyers at the Motorpoint Arena in the Elite League on Friday night.

Panthers were without defencemen Duggie Lagrone and Craig Moore, so Jordan Kelsall continued to play in defence.

Alex Dubeau was given the start between the pipes with Matty Bloor serving as back-up

Fife lead after first period
The Flyers took the lead after 45 seconds as Dillon Lawrence scored from the slot and Janne Laakkonen made it 2-0 from the left circle (9:05).

Panthers went close through Brett Welychka and Luke Ferrara, but were unable to find a way past Shane Owen.

Summers on target but Flyers extend advantage
Nottingham closed the gap early in the second period as Kelly Summers reacted first to a loose puck (21:24), but Fife hit back 30 seconds later when Janne Laakkonen fired past Dubeau from the left wing for his second of the night (21:54).

The visitors scored twice in 38 seconds to take control as Brayden Sherbinin fired through traffic from the top of the right circle (36:16) and Reece Cochrane blasted home from left point (37:14).

Fife ease to victory with sixth goal.
Sherbinin went over the shoulder of Dubeau for his second at 40:44 as Fife netted their sixth.

Panthers had chances through Ferrara and Mike Hammon, but Shane Owen held firm as Flyers picked up a huge two points.
