Forward Craig Puffer says there's excitement in The Nottingham Panthers squad ahead of this weekend's Premier Sports Elite League home-opener with Guildford Flames.

The two sides meet at the Motorpoint Arena on Saturday (19:00) before Panthers travel to the Skydome to face Coventry Blaze on Sunday.

"Camp went well, the boys are gelling together," said Puffer. "We didn't get the results we wanted but we are building chemistry each day.

"We have all been blending well together and it has been fun. It's finally game week so we're all excited."

The 27-year-old from North America is one of nine new faces to the league this season on the Panthers roster.

Puffer, who joined the Panthers in the summer after two years in Denmark, has been impressed by the support at home games in pre-season, with the GM the GM Memorial Trophy against Sheffield Steelers attracting over 5,000 supporters.

"I knew there would be a lot of fans here, but for pre-season it really was pretty impressive," continued Puffer.

"I'd love to see all those fans again and hopefully we can pack it again on Saturday."
