The Nottingham Panthers would like to send our condolences to the family and friends of Brent Pope who passed away this week.

Pope, who had moved back to North America, was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year and our thoughts go out to his wife Fegie Ann and their two young children.

He first came to play in the UK in 1996 with Cardiff Devils and joined the Panthers for the 1999-2000 season, scoring 12 points in 42 Superleague games.

After a return to the East Coast Hockey League in North America and a stint with London Knights in the UK, Pope returned to the Panthers for the 2001-02 campaign and contributed 13 points in 48 Superleague matches.

He also iced for Solihull MK Kings, Hull Stingrays, London Racers, Basingstoke Bison, Sheffield Scimitars, Romford Racers and Slough Jets.

Pope played eight times for Great Britain at World Championship tournaments in 2003 and 2004.

He went on to have management and coaching roles with Cardiff Devils, before starting a career in sports broadcasting.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Rest in peace Brent.
