Match Report

The Nottingham Panthers were beaten 3-1 at home by Fife Flyers in the Elite League.

Ollie Betteridge returned to the line-up but Panthers were without the injured Mike Caruso, Carl Neill and Logan Neilson.

Rok Stojanovic started between the pipes with Luca Sheldon as back-up

Fife hit back after Nieminen scores early for Panthers
Panthers took an early lead when Otto Nieminen cleverly tipped-in a shot from Myles McGurty (3:03), but the visitors equalised only 37 seconds later as Kevin Wehrs pounced on a loose puck in the slot and fired top-shelf (3:40).

Fife dominated much of the rest of the period and Max Humitz hit the inside of the post, before Troy Lajeunesse used the power of Kyle Osterberg's pass from the right-wing to redirect the puck into the net (14:17).

No goals in quiet second period
Joe Hazeldine went close early in the second period but Panthers struggled to create many clear-cut opportunities.

The better chances came late in the session as Josh Tetlow shot wide from the slot while Didrik Henbrant saw his shot saved after cutting inside from the right.

All Panthers pressure but Flyers take the points
Panthers had most of the pressure in the third period with efforts from Hazeldine, Nieminen and Hugo Roy, while Shane Owen made two good saves to deny Henbrant.

The Flyers sealed the game and the vital two points when Colin Shirley's shot from the left-wing sneaked past Stojanovic (57:27).
