Match Report

The Nottingham Panthers beat Glasgow Clan 3-2 at the Motorpoint Arena in a thrilling Elite League match on Sunday afternoon.

Panthers were without the injured trio of Ollie Betteridge, Josh Tetlow and Tyler Welsh. Joe Hazeldine missed the game through illness while Félix Paré was suspended. Rok Stojanovic started in goal with Mike Robinson as back-up.

McGurty and Luciani score for Panthers in first period
Mike Caruso shot wide early in the first period as Panthers started strong and it was no surprise when they took the lead, as Myles McGurty's pass towards the net was deflected past Kevin Lindskoug off a Clan skate (8:32).

Nottingham went 2-0 ahead when Alexander Lunsjö fed Jordan Kelsall at right-point and his perfect pass found Anthony Luciani who put the puck past Lindskoug at the second attempt (13:23).

Clan reduced the arrears on a two-on-one break as Gary Haden fed Darien Craighead at the backdoor (15:03).

Lunsjö scores in second period
Lunsjö cut inside from the right before firing low to give Nottingham a two-goal lead again (24:41).

Stojanovic came up big when he denied Haden on a breakaway, but the Clan forward closed the gap to one when he fired the puck from behind the redline off the Panthers netminder into the goal (36:57).

Mathieu Lemay and Dyson Stevenson dropped the gloves for an intense fight as the period came to a close.

Panthers hold firm for superb home win
Haden hit the pipes on an early third-period Clan powerplay and at the other end, Didrik Henbrant went close and Westin Michaud fed Lemay who saw his shot saved.

Clan lifted Lindskoug for the extra skater late-on but Panthers held firm and the awesome support roared the clock down for a special home victory.
