Match Report

Nottingham Panthers were beaten 4-3 by Coventry Blaze at the Skydome Arena in the Elite League on Sunday night.

Ryan Bednard got the start in goal with Hunter Vorva as back-up. Cooper Zech remains out of the line-up as he continues his recovery from injury.

Alfaro on target but Blaze lead at first intermission
The hosts took an early lead as Nick Seitz, who was lying on the ground, reacted first to a loose puck to bundle it past Bednard (2:23).

Panthers hit back within three minutes - when playing a man short - as Matt Alfaro cut inside from the right to slot the puck under Mat Robson (5:01).

Coventry went ahead again through a floated shot through traffic from just inside the blueline by David Clements (12:30) and Michael Regush made it 3-1 as he superbly battled his way through the offensive zone (16:56).

Herr scores for Panthers but Coventry keep two-goal advantage
Panthers closed the gap to one on the powerplay as Alfaro fed Sam Herr driving the net at the backdoor (22:44).

Logan Neilson shot just wide after a clever backhand pass by Didrik Henbrant, but the home side made it 4-2 on the powerplay through Brandon Alderson's one-timer from the left-circle (32:53)

Betteridge scores late but Blaze secure two points
Herr and Hugo Roy were denied by Robson early in the third period, while Henbrant shot just wide on the powerplay.

Panthers lifted Bednard for the extra skater with just under four minutes remaining and Ollie Betteridge's one-timer from the right-circle reduced the arrears to set-up a tense finish (58:11), but Blaze hung on to secure the two points.
