Nottingham Panthers beat Fife Flyers 4-0 in Kirkcaldy on Wednesday night to make it five points from a possible six to start the 2025-26 Elite League campaign.

Ollie Betteridge scored twice while Jason Grande secured a 21-shot shutout on his return to the starting netminder position.

Luca Sheldon returned to the line-up as back-up netminder after recovering from injury, but Chase Pearson remains out of action (upper body).

Fossier scores only goal in first period
Grande made a good early stop to deny Jaka Šturm and also turned away two close-range efforts on a first-period Fife powerplay.

Panthers had chances on the man advantage for David Noël and Matt Marcinew, before going ahead even-handed when Tim Doherty from behind the net set-up Mitch Fossier in the slot (16:00).

Danny Stewart's side finished the session strong and Bryan Lemos came close to making it two but his shot came back off the post.

Two superb Betteridge goals extends Panthers lead
Noël sent Betteridge down the left-wing and he cut inside to fire a sweet wrist-shot past Shane Owen for Panthers' second (23:57).

Fife pushed hard for a way back into the game and Joe Lynch saw his effort saved by Grande who also made a good glove save to deny Ian Scheid.

Finlay Ulrick chased down a puck and Jordan Kelsall used his strength to feed Betteridge in the slot who produced another superb finish for his second of the night (38:47).

Marcinew puts seal on win
Grande stopped Keaton Jameson's shot from left-point on a Fife powerplay in the third period.

Matt Spencer went coast-to-coast but saw his shot saved before Marcinew buried the rebound to set the seal on the win with just over eight minutes remaining (51:44).
