Nottingham Panthers beat Guildford Flames 4-1 in front of a packed Motorpoint Arena in the Elite League.
Panthers were without injured forwards Mitch Fossier and Matt Marcinew. Jason Grande, who made 24 saves, started between the pipes with Luca Sheldon as back-up, while Kevin Carr and Jaord Hilderman were the healthy scratches.
Stridsberg puts Panthers ahead in first period
Panthers dominated the opening stages and went close through Didrik Henbrant's tip, while Bryan Lemos and Ross Armour also had chances.
A sweet free-flowing move saw Panthers take the lead as Lemos had a shot from right-point saved but Jakob Stridsberg buried the rebound from close-range (06:49).
At the other end, Grande made good saves to deny Nick Seitz twice and also superbly got across his net to stop Cole Ully on the doorstep with his skate.
Curran scores powerplay goal
Zsombor Garát fired just wide from the blueline, Finlay Ulrick was inches over the bar from the slot and Tim Doherty hit the pipes in the opening stages of the second session.
Josh Waller burst through the Panthers defence to score on his backhand short-handed (28:13), before Danny Stewart's side went back ahead 53 seconds later on the same powerplay when Johnny Curran scored on the rebound after Henbrant's shot was saved (29:06).
Justin Fazio made two huge saves to stop Armour on the doorstep as Panthers came close to a third goal inside the final 30 seconds of the period.
Curran grabs second to seal win
Captain Matt Alfaro made it 3-1 when he created room in the offensive zone and went top-shelf across Fazio from the right-circle (43:24).
Grande made two huge close-range saves as Flames looked for a way back into the game.
Curran scored his second of the night to seal the win as his pass towards Chase Pearson at the backdoor deflected past Fazio off a Guildford stick (51:30).
