Nottingham Panthers moved up to third in the Elite League table - level on points with second-placed Sheffield Steelers - following a 5-1 victory over Dundee Stars at a sold-out Motorpoint Arena.
Brendan Harris was unavailable as he served the final game of his three-match suspension while Matt Alfaro missed the game with a lower-body injury.
Jarod Hilderman came back into the line-up as Panthers iced seven defencemen and 11 forwards. Kevin Carr started between the pipes with Luca Sheldon as back-up.
Marcinew and Doherty on target in first period
Panthers went so close to taking the lead inside the opening five minutes when Hilderman's shot was tipped by Bryan Lemos, but Dryden Dow cleared the puck off the line after it had slipped through Stars netminder Emil Kruse.
Matt Marcinew put Panthers ahead - with his fourth goal in as many games since his return from injury - as he drove the net to meet a feed by Didrik Henbrant on the powerplay (08:41).
The visitors equalised when Craig Garrigan's pass from behind the net set-up Kris Inglis who went top-shelf from the bottom of the right-circle (11:05).
Carr made a huge save to deny former Panther Johnny Curran from close-range and moments later, David Noël's shot was blocked but Tim Doherty was on hand to sweep home the loose puck from the slot (19:07).
Volcan and Armour stretch Panthers lead
Carr made two big saves early in the second period before Panthers had sustained spell of pressure which saw chances for Mitch Fossier, Josh Tetlow and Chase Pearson.
Jordan Kelsall fed Jakob Stridsberg and his shot from the point was tipped past Emil Kruse by Nolan Volcan (37:29).
Under two minutes later it was 4-1 to the Panthers when Zsombor Garát's shot was saved and Ross Armour was on the doorstep to put home the rebound (39:27).
Noël goal rounds-off a great night
Panthers superbly killed-off two successive penalties at the start of the third period and Henbrant went close short-handed.
Ollie Betteridge's close-range shot was saved and Noël advanced onto the rebound to score Panthers' fifth of the night (49:31) to set the seal on the win.
