Former Panther Kevin Bergin spoke to Panthers TV as he returned to Nottingham as Head Coach of Amiens at the weekend.

Panthers beat the French top-flight side 6-0 at the Motorpoint Arena on Sunday to secure a third successive victory in pre-season.

Bergin won two Challenge Cup titles in a three-season spell from 2007 to 2010 and also iced in the UK with Basingstoke Bison and Braehead (Glasgow) Clan.

Ahead of the first face-off, Bergy was given a standing ovation and a video was played on the jumbotron of some of his biggest moments in Panthers colours.

Bergin said: "I didn't expect that. It was very nice and it gave me chills. I would like to say thanks a lot and I really appreciated it.

"Nottingham has always had a good set of fans and it was very touching. We got here at noon. I walked around and there were so many memories.

"It is super nice to be back. It's a super nice city, a super nice facility and the best fans in the league."

Mitch Fossier scored twice while there was a goal each for Ollie Betteridge, David Noël, Ross Armour and Didrik Henbrant in the convincing victory and Bergin was impressed with what he saw from the Panthers.

"Nottingham are a good team," continued Bergin. "They had us pinned down in our own zone a few times and have a lot of good quality guys.

"They make good decisions with the puck and they're fast. You have a quality team and I think you're going to do good in this league this year."
