DEFENCEMAN DARICK LOUIS-JEAN JOINS PANTHERS

Nottingham Panthers have signed Canadian defenceman Darick Louis-Jean.

Despite only being 25, the 6'1 hard-hitting blueliner already has 257 ECHL games under his belt, scoring 19 goals and 77 assists for 96 points.

Louis-Jean linked up with NHL side Montreal Canadiens for their pre-season training camp last summer.

He went on to sign a two-way contract with Montreal's affiliate in the AHL, Laval Rocket, and split his time with them and their ECHL affiliate Trois-Rivières Lions last season.

Panthers Head Coach, Danny Stewart, said: "Darick is a hard-nosed d-man that brings a lot of intangibles to our backend.

"He skates well, moves the puck well and really competes hard on the defensive side of things.

"He’s a pain in the ass to play against and we like the grit he brings to our d-core. He’s a 200-foot guy that shows up every night."
