The Nottingham Panthers were beaten 7-1 by Manchester Storm in Altrincham in the Elite League on Saturday afternoon.

Panthers were without the injured Mike Caruso, Duggie Lagrone and Craig Moore, while Archie Hazeldine and Jack Hopkins were on international duty with Great Britain at the Under-20 World Championship in Lithuania.

Sixteen-year-old Archie Salisbury came into the line-up on loan from NIHL side Peterborough Phantoms. Jack Berry got the start between the pipes with Alex Dubeau as back-up.

Storm edge tight opening period
Storm had the better of the early exchanges with Jesper Ohrvall and Ryan Barrow going close on the same shift.

At the other end, Adam Brady was denied from close range while JC Brassard shot just wide.

After chances on the powerplay for Brady, Mike Hammond and David Levin, Scott Simmonds broke away short-handed and cut inside from the right to fire low under Berry (19:38).

Manchester take three-goal lead
Barrow pulled a nice move in-front of Berry to give the Storm a two-goal lead early in period two (20:38).

Jeremy Brodeur made great saves from Brady, Hammond and Brett Welychka on a Panthers powerplay, before Simmonds scored his second of the night as his deflected shot beat Berry at 35:29.

Welychka scores but Storm ease to victory
Luke Ferrara forced a big blocker save out of Brodeur early in the third period, but Manchester extended their lead when Barrow tapped in at the backdoor on the man advantage (42:49).

Dallas Ehrhardt advanced at the backdoor to score from the left-wing moments after Panthers had killed-off a powerplay (48:50).

Panthers finally got on the board as Jeremy Welsh won the face-off and Brett Welychka cut inside to the slot to score his 11th goal of the season at 50:59 (powerplay).

Storm netted their sixth as Ehrhardt beat Berry with a wrist shot through traffic on a five-on-three powerplay (54:44) and Michael Korol finished off a well-worked move at the backdoor to complete the scoring (57:33).
