FORWARD TYLER WELSH SIGNS FOR PANTHERS
The Nottingham Panthers have signed 26-year-old Canadian forward Tyler Welsh.
Welsh played three years for Yale University in the NCAA - the top level of college hockey in North America - before spending the 2021-22 season as alternate captain for Long Island University.
He made his professional debut the same year, playing nine times for Newfoundland Growlers in the East Coast Hockey League.
Last season, Welsh scored at a point per game for Mullhouse in Ligue Magnus, the top division in France.
Welsh said: "I am super excited. First of all, Nottingham is a first-class organisation and the fans seem spectacular here, so that drew me in. The supporters, organisation, arena and the city just seem amazing.
"I know Kevin Massy who played in Nottingham briefly and I have other friends who have played in the league. They said great things about the Elite League and Nottingham.
"I know there's lots of expectation and pressure, but I think it's exciting. There's a new coach and probably a lot of new players. It will be fun to gel and we will look to have a great year."
Panthers Head Coach, Jonathan Paredes, said: "Tyler has a super high compete every shift and has good speed.
"He is a guy who never stops working, great vision and is a guy that is extremely reliable. He will fit into our team very well."
Welsh added: "The style of hockey I play I think will suit us and I am looking to build off last year.
"Nottingham is looking to return to the top end of the standings and I am excited to be part of that."
