Nottingham Panthers are excited to announce the signing of Great Britain international netminder Mat Robson.

The 30-year-old joins the Panthers after two seasons with Coventry Blaze and was named on the Elite League's Second All-Star Team in 2025-26.

Robson is currently away with Great Britain at the 2026 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Switzerland and was named Player of the Game in last night's match against Finland, making 43 saves.

The netminder had two impressive years in the NCAA with University of Minnesota and was then signed as a college free agent by the NHL’s Minnesota Wild.

Robson attended Minnesota's training camp and played in exhibition games before spending the 2019-20 season in the AHL with Iowa Wild, posting a .901 save-percentage 2.97 goals-against-average.

He spent the 2020-21 campaign in the highly-rated DEL in Germany with Straubing Tigers and his performances saw him return to North America as part of the Buffalo Sabres' system.

Robson spent a season in the AHL with Rochester Americans and Cincinnati Cyclones before moving to play in the Ligue Magnus in France for Anglet.

He was a fans' favourite in his two years in Coventry and last season helped lead the Blaze to the Challenge Cup Final.

"I had two great years in Coventry and I would like to thank the fans and everyone at the club for making my time there so special," said Robson.

"I am so excited to be joining the Panthers. I know how great the atmosphere is at the Motorpoint Arena with my visits there with the Blaze.

"I also got to experience the sold-out crowd for GB's game against Italy as part of our training camp and that was so special.

"Panthers are a club on the up and there has been some great success in recent years. I am looking forward to be part of it as we look for more success going forward."
