Nottingham Panthers secured a vital two points on Sunday night with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Cardiff Devils at the Motorpoint Arena.
Goals from captain Matt Alfaro and Matt Marcinew on his return from injury gave Panthers the lead at the second intermission.
But the visitors netted twice in the third period and the game was eventually settled in a shootout.
Marcinew, Mitch Fossier and Tim Doherty netted for the Panthers while Kevin Carr turned away all three attempts by Cardiff.
