MARCINEW PENS PANTHERS DEAL FOR 2025-26

Canadian forward Matt Marcinew has joined Nottingham Panthers for the 2025-26 season.
Marcinew arrived in the UK today and will meet his team-mates for the first time at practice tomorrow
The 31-year-old joins the Panthers with over 275 ECHL games under his belt, as well as 41 matches in the American Hockey League (AHL) and stints in some highly-rated European leagues.
The Calgary-born forward spent four years in the NCAA with the University of Denver where he was named Alternate Captain in 2016-17, helping his side win the national championship in his final season.
He spent the first four years of his professional career in North America, splitting his time between the AHL and ECHL, including a team-leading 48 points (23+25) in 57 games for Indy Fuel in 2020-21.
Marcinew moved to Europe the following season to join HPK in the top level of ice hockey in Finland, before linking up with Södertälje SK of the HockeyAllsvenskan in Sweden.
He returned to North America in 2022 with Rapid City Rush and led the team in goals (30), assists (38) and points (68) over 64 regular-season matches
Marcinew joined Allen Americans in 2023-24, scoring at over a point per game before a mid-season move to the DEL2 in Germany with Krefeld Pinguine. Last season, Marcinew led Krefeld in goals (26) as he scored 53 points in 47 matches.
"I have been weighing-up some options over the past few weeks, but for my wife and I this is the most exciting opportunity," said Marcinew. "We're really excited to be coming to Nottingham.
The fit from the standpoint of the city, the organisation and for us together, we felt Nottingham was the place to be. I want to set myself up to have a great season and succeed, not only individually but, more importantly, as a team.
"After speaking with Omar (Pacha) and Danny (Stewart), looking at the organisation and the club as a whole, there is a really good chance to do that and to come and win. That's what I am most excited about."
Head Coach, Danny Stewart, said: "Matt is a big addition for us. He’s a right-handed shot that can play multiple spots on the powerplay. He can play at centre which gives us added depth down the middle, but is also effective on the wing.
"He plays a very good 200-foot game. He plays heavy, can score and also create plays on his own. He compliments what we have very well and brings us a better balance then before we signed him."
