The Nottingham Panthers beat Manchester Storm 4-1 in Altrincham in the Viaplay Elite League on Friday night.
Netminder Peyton Jones got the start between the pipes with Matty Bloor as back-up.
Luke Ferrara was missing because of injury after being ruled out for the rest of the season, while Mike Caruso was rested as a precaution.
Chances at both ends in end-to-end first period
Tanner Sorenson shot over the bar from the slot, while David Levin hit the side-netting inside the first 30 seconds.
Jones denied Storm's Jesper Ohrvall and stopped a short-handed breakaway from Scott Simmons, before making a double save on Cam Critchlow.
Summers scores only goal of second period
In period two, Jeremy Brodeur made an outstanding save to stop Levin's shot from the right circle.
Mike Hammond forced a turnover to set-up Kelly Summers who fired Panthers into the lead with the aid of a deflection (36:43).
Two goals in 13 seconds seals win for Panthers
​Panthers came so close to a second within a minute of the restart in the third session, but Brodeur cleared just as Adam Brady looked as he could force the puck over the line.
Jones stopped Anthony DeLuca from close range on the powerplay and denied Finlay Ulrick three times in succession including a superb pad save.
A superb short-handed goal from Jakub Izacky as he cut from right to left across the offensive zone before firing over Brodeur's shoulder put Nottingham 2-0 ahead (51:39), but Cam Critchlow closed gap from close range on the powerplay 15 seconds later (51:54).
Nottingham scored twice in 13 seconds to put the seal on the win as Levin's superbly rounded Brodeur (57:53) and Brady popped home a rebound after Stephen Anderson's shot was saved (58:06).
Two sides meet again in Nottingham tomorrow
​Panthers and Storm meet at the Motorpoint Arena tomorrow night for both sides' final game of the regular season.
