Nottingham Panthers got their Continental Cup campaign up and running with a 4-0 victory over Mogo from Latvia at the Motorpoint Arena.
Kevin Carr secured a 20-shot shutout while the win means Panthers can secure a place in Saturday's final with victory against Polish side Katowice on Friday night.
David Noël returned in the line-up in place of Jarod Hilderman, while Johnny Curran and Jason Grande were the other healthy scratches. Kevin Carr started between the pipes with Luca Sheldon as back-up.
No goals in first session
The first period saw both sides trading chances but no goals as Panthers went close through Matt Spencer and Brendan Harris.
Mogo looked lively and Carr had to be sharp to make saves to deny Ernests Krums and Niks Feneko.
Harris and Henbrant put Panthers ahead
Chase Pearson fed Harris in the slot as Panthers broke the deadlock in the second session (27:58).
It was 2-0 on the powerplay as Harris turned provider to set-up Didrik Henbrant at the backdoor (34:52).
Goals from Lemos and Garát secure victory
Janis Zemtis hits the bar as Mogo looked for a way back into the game.
Bryan Lemos scored shorthanded as he forced a turnover and broke clear before rounding netminder Karlis Mezsargs (54:03).
Pearson fed defenceman Zsombor Garát who jumped into the play to score from the right-circle and put the seal on the victory (55:53).
