Former Panthers Head Coach Jonathan Paredes talks about the special welcome he received on his return to Nottingham with Ducs d'Angers at the weekend.
Paredes led the club the 2023/24 season and will always be remembered at the Motorpoint Arena for the way he conducted himself during a difficult year for the club.
He returned last season for the Continental Cup although Panthers and Angers were in separate groups, so the two sides never went head-to-head.
"Just wow," said Paredes. "It's alway nice to come back and see everyone here. It's always a pleasure to witness the atmosphere again.
"It was great to see so many people and what a city of hockey this is."
Two goals from Max Grondin and goal each for Chase Pearson and Miikka Pitkänen saw Panthers skate to a 4-2 victory in the opening game of pre-season to secure the Aladdin Cup.
Twelve players made their Panthers debuts as Danny Stewart gave netminder Mat Robson the first two periods between the pipes, with Kai Edmonds replacing him in the third session.
"I liked what I saw from the Panthers," said Paredes. "They look strong and have some good players. They have skill and are strong on the forecheck.
"I would like to see Panthers at the top of the league at the end of the regular-season next year."

Pre-season action continues next Saturday (29th August) as we face French side Amiens in the GM the GM Memorial Trophy (19:00 face-off).
Amiens are coached by Bruce Richardson who was a very popular Panthers player in a two-year stint from 2008 to 2010.
