Defenceman Josh Tetlow has confirmed his full retirement from ice hockey as he takes up a career outside the sport.

The 28-year-old confirmed his international retirement earlier this week and was named Player of the Game in Great Britain's final match of the 2026 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship against Germany.

The popular blueliner made 425 appearances for Panthers in total, domestically and in Europe, scoring seven goals and contributing 42 assists for 49 points.

Tetlow played his junior career in Bracknell and first joined the Panthers in 2016 on a two-way contract with the Bees.

He signed a full-time contract ahead of the 2018-19 campaign and played in all 60 Elite League regular-season matches.

In 2020-21 - when the EIHL season was unable to start because of the covid pandemic - Tetlow spent part of the year in Finland.

He returned to the UK for the behind-closed-doors Elite Series and was part of the Panthers team which lifted the trophy by beating Sheffield Steelers.

Tetlow played in Finland in 2022-23 in the Mestis league as he won a bronze medal with RoKi, before coming back to the Panthers for the 2023-24 season.

Since then, he's been a major part of three trophies in two season, winning the playoffs in 2024-25 and the Continental Cup and Challenge Cup double last season.

TETLOW SECTION 2

Tetlow said: "Playing for the Panthers has been a fantastic part of my career and I have been so lucky to play alongside some great players and close friends.

"I made memories that will last with me forever and winning three trophies in two season is the perfect way to bow out of the sport.

"I would like to thank everyone who has been part of my career, including the many team-mates who it has been an honour to play alongside."

Panthers Head Coach, Danny Stewart, said: "We are gonna miss Tets on and off the ice. He is an immaculate team guy and has a whatever-it-takes attitude.

"He is a first-class human being. He has given so much to this organisation - a guy that puts his body on the line every night and played for the guy next to him.

"Tets played such a pivotal role in the success we have had the past two seasons and it’s a void that will be tough to fill.

"We will miss him here, I will miss him here. I loved coaching him every day and I wish him and Lauren the best of luck in the next chapter of their lives."

TETLOW SECTION 3

Panthers CEO, Omar Pacha, said: "Josh has been a tremendous ambassador for the Panthers on and off the ice.

"Anyone who has ever met Josh throughout the club always appreciated the way he has Panthers attached to his heart.

"On behalf of everyone at the club I would like to thank Josh for his contribution to the Panthers over the years.

"I know he will be following the Panthers and we are excited to see what’s next for him. Josh has a great life after hockey in front of him.

"I'd like to wish Josh and Lauren all the best for the future and they are welcome back at the Motorpoint Arena anytime."
