It’s another two-game weekend for the Panthers which starts tonight (Friday) with a trip to Braehead Arena to face the Glasgow Clan (19:30), before returning to the Motorpoint Arena to face the Elite League’s form team Coventry Blaze on Saturday (19:00).

The Panthers will be missing the services of defenceman Josh Tetlow and forward Johnny Curran as both are in Murrayfield representing Great Britain in the IIHF European Cup of Nations.

A loss at home to Dundee last Saturday and a win in Cardiff last Sunday left Panthers in third place in the Elite League standings, a point behind the Devils and five behind league leaders Belfast Giants.

Panthers travel to Glasgow seeking revenge against Clan after losing 4-1 there last week, with Brendan Harris getting the only Panthers goal.

Since that game Glasgow have failed to pick up any points, losing 4-2 to Guildford Flames last Friday before being shutout 5-0 by Belfast on Sunday.

Clan currently occupy eighth place in the league with 33 points, 12 ahead of ninth-placed Dundee Stars who have played two games fewer.

New Clan netminder Liam Souliére has made a good start to his Elite League career, posting a GAA of 2.29 and a save percentage of 0.915. With Lucas Brine also away on GB duty, Souliére is expected to get the start.

Coventry are the visitors to the Motorpoint Arena on Saturday and they come to Nottingham in red-hot form, having taken 22 league points out of 24 since winning 5-4 on their last visit on New Year's Eve.

Coventry are currently placed seventh in the Elite League on 37 points, level with Guildford Flames and five points behind fifth-placed Manchester Storm.

Blaze will be without defenceman David Clements and forward Jack Hopkins who are with Team GB in Murrayfield, while forward Artem Buzoverya is also in Murrayfield playing for Ukraine.

Blaze have several players in great form with Finnish defenceman Jere Vertanen on a four-game point-streak (3+4). He has 14 goals in all competitions this season, nine of which have come on the powerplay.

Forward Grant Mismash is also in great point-scoring form. He is on a seven-game point streak (4+10) stretching back to 10th January and has only failed to score a point in one game out of his last sixteen.

Games between panthers and Blaze are usually intense, hard-fought affairs. Expect no different at the Motorpoint Arena on Saturday.
