The new season gets under way tonight as The Nottingham Panthers hit the road to face Manchester Storm in Altrincham (7pm face-off).

After three wins and one defeat in pre-season, the real action begins this evening as Panthers and Storm go head-to-head in the Challenge Cup.

It's the first of two meeting between the two sides this weekend as Nottingham host Manchester at the Motorpoint Arena in the opening game of the Elite League season tomorrow (4pm face-off), in a match sponsored by Guardian Vehicle Logistics.

Head Coach, Jonathan Paredes, said: "The team are focused and they are excited to play.

"The players have received video on Manchester but we still have to focus on us. We need to correct some small detail from last week.

"We are ready and we are looking forward to getting the season under way."

The Panthers have a fully-fit squad to choose from and so are at full strength for the visit to Altrincham this evening.

With the limit of 15 non-homegrown players in the Elite League, the coaches will choose between Rok Stojanovic and Mike Robinson as starting netminder with Nottingham-born goalie Luca Sheldon set to serve as back-up.

Ollie Betteridge, Mike Caurso and Carl Neill will be the three Alternate Captains this weekend. Head Coach Jonathan Paredes explains that with many candidates to choose from, the coaching staff want to take their time to make a decision and in the short term "a group of leaders" is the preferred option.
