Nottingham Panthers have signed Swedish defenceman Jakob Stridsberg for the rest of the 2025-26 campaign.

Stridsberg's signing was completed before the weekend and he arrived in Nottingham on Wednesday evening.

With all the necessary paperwork completed, he trained with his new team-mates for the first time today (Thursday) and is available for selection this weekend.

The 30-year-old played in the Elite League last season with Coventry Blaze, scoring 17 points (3+14) in 32 matches. An injury cut short his season at the Skydome but he has now returned to full fitness and will link-up with the Panthers.

Stridsberg spent his first four years of his professional career icing in his native Sweden in both the HockeyAllsvenskan and HockeyEttan leagues.

In 2020-21, the blueliner had a standout season with HC Dalen where he totalled 30 points (6+24) and led the Western Division with a Plus/Minus rating of +29.

He spent the 2023-24 campaign in Denmark with Frederikshavn White Hawks where he scored six goals and added 11 assists for 17 points in 45 regular-season matches.

Head Coach, Danny Stewart, said: "I think it's an incredible credit to the club to be proactive. Recognising where we are in the standings but also recognising the schedule we have coming up.

"The Christmas period, the Continental Cup and beyond. There's a lot of hockey in a short space of time. This will allow us to compete at full-strength as much as possible.

"Jakob had a really good stretch last season in Coventry before his injury. We really liked his two-way game.

"He skates well which allows him to contribute offensively but also makes him a good defender. Jakob thinks the game well and we were impressed with him last year in Coventry."

Stridsberg said: "I am excited to be joining the Nottingham Panthers. I know from my visits with the Blaze how passionate and loud the fanbase is.

"The Panthers have a proud tradition and history. It's going to be an honour to play for this great hockey club. We have a strong roster and I am looking forward to getting started."
