Nottingham Panthers secured a point in a 3-2 overtime defeat on the road at Dundee Stars in the Elite League.

The point for the Panthers moves us two points clear at the top of the table after second-placed Sheffield Steelers were beaten 3-1 at home by Coventry Blaze.

It's three points out of possible four so far in the three-game Scottish road trip following last night's 4-3 victory against Glasgow Clan.

Panthers were at full-strength with Nolan Volcan and Kevin Carr the healthy scratches. Jason Grande started between the pipes and Luca Sheldon served as back-up.

Panthers pile on the pressure but Stars lead at first intermission
Tim Doherty, Didrik Henbrant and Cooper Zech all had good chances inside the opening seven minutes as part of a strong Panthers start.

The hosts went ahead through a neat wrist-shot from Spencer Naas (08:58) and soon after, Grande made a good save to deny Otto Nieminen

Panthers also finished the session with constant pressure with the best chance seeing Emil Kruse turning away Matt Alfaro's close-range effort.

Armour nets 11th goal of season
Panthers equalised on the powerplay when Alfaro's shot was saved and Ross Armour buried the rebound from close-range for his 11th goal of the season (28:03).

Zech, Chase Pearson and Brendan Harris all went close in the second session and at the other end, Grande denied Matt Berry.

Doherty scores on powerplay before Stars equalise
Grande made a pad save to deny Keanu Yamamoto inside the first 90 seconds of the third period.

Alfaro fed Doherty in the slot to put Panthers ahead on the powerplay (51:53), but Dundee hit back through Jackson Desouza following a goalmouth scramble (54:48).

Former Panther grabs overtime winner
Dundee looked the sharper of the two sides in overtime and went on to secure the extra point.

Former Panther Nieminen burst through the defence to score a superb game-winner for the hosts (61:37).

Panthers complete the three-game Scottish road trip against Fife Flyers tomorrow night (17:00 face-off).
