PREVIEW: PANTHERS FACE FIFE IN KIRKCALDY

PREVIEW: PANTHERS FACE FIFE IN KIRKCALDY Top Image

Nottingham Panthers are straight back into action with a trip to Kirkcaldy to face Fife Flyers this evening (19:00 face-off).

Panthers make the trip to Scotland on the back of last night's superb 6-2 victory over Manchester Storm at the Motorpoint Arena.

Zsombor Garát scored twice and there was a goal each for Brendan Harris, Matt Marcinew, Bryan Lemos and Tim Doherty.

Harris is now the joint-leader in the Elite League scoring charts with six goals, sitting alongside Manchester's Brady Gilmour who netted twice last night.

The victory moved Panthers back to the top of the Elite League table, a point clear of second-placed Sheffield Steelers who have a game in hand.

Fife are without a victory in their opening eight league matches, but their performances have improved in recent weeks which was evident in last weekend's 2-1 overtime defeat at the hands of Sheffield in Kirkcaldy.

View from the Bench
Head Coach, Danny Stewart, said: "Despite a slow start, they have some good quality in Fife.

"I watched their game with Sheffield and I thought Fife played a good hockey game. They competed well.

"They are still trying to find their identity as a group and we don't want to be the team that allows them to do that."

Team News in association with Candid Digital
Panthers will once again be without forwards Ollie Betteridge and Finlay Ulrick.

The pair are away with Great Britain at the IIHF European Cup of Nations in Poland, with Betteridge scoring twice in Friday's narrow 5-4 overtime defeat by Italy.
