Rick Strachan is back with the Nottingham Panthers for another season as he returns to the coaching staff as advisor to Danny Stewart and Linton Grant for 2025-26.

The 62-year-old first joined the Panthers as a player in the 1990-91 and has an association with the club that spans three decades.

Originally born in Winnipeg, Canada, he went on to play and coach Great Britain, including being Head Coach at two World Championship tournaments.

Strachan was part of the coaching team that helped Panthers dominate UK ice hockey from 2011 and 2016, including the Eite League, playoffs and Challenge Cup treble in 2012-13.

Head Coach, Danny Stewart, said: "Rick was a huge help to myself and the coaching staff last season. He’s a Panther through and through.

"He help me adjust to life in Nottingham and was a great mind to have week in and week out. We are delighted to have him return as part of the coaching staff. He makes us better."

Strachan said: "I am thrilled to be back again with the Panthers. This has been my home for so long now and there is no other place I'd rather be.

"It was great to work with Danny and Linton last year and I look forward to renewing that partnership this season. It was so special to be part of the playoff success and to see the joy on so many people's faces.

"This club is a great position at the moment and it certainly is an exciting time to be a Panther."
