The newly-crowned IIHF Continental Cup champions return to domestic action this weekend with two Elite League games against Guildford Flames.

The first is at the Motorpoint Arena on Saturday night (19:00), with the return at The Spectrum in Guildford on Sunday (18:00).

After securing their second European title on home ice last Saturday, Panthers face a Flames side in inconsistent form, having lost four games out of their past five which includes a 3-1 home loss to Elite League leaders Belfast Giants on Wednesday.

Panthers have won four out of their past five Elite League games. Their last being a 7-3 victory over Fife Flyers on 11th January before winning all three of their games in the Continental Cup, scoring 12 goals and conceding just two.

However, the form book seems to go out of the window when these two sides meet. Guildford have inflicted two heavy defeats on the Panthers this season, including a 6-2 victory at the Motorpoint Arena on 21st December.

The two teams have faced each other five times so far this season in the league and Challenge Cup with Panthers winning three games to Flames two.

The last game between the two sides being a 2-1 overtime victory for the Panthers on 3rd January at the Motorpoint Arena with Matt Marcinew scoring the overtime winner.

Ross Armour and Tim Doherty are in great league form for Panthers, with Armour having scored seven points in his past five games (3+4), while Doherty scored four assists against Fife.

The Flames have welcomed back both Cole Ully and Josh Waller from injury and both have been among the points. Waller with a goal and an assist in three games since returning while Ully has a goal and two assists in four games.

It should be another fascinating encounter between these two sides who always seem well matched, emphasised by their Elite League head-to-head which has both sides winning 28 games each with one draw in 57 games played.
