American forward Spencer Naas joins the Nottingham Panthers after spending the past three seasons with fellow Elite League team Dundee Stars.

Naas, who turns 31 tomorrow (Sunday 28th June), played 163 games in Dundee in all competitions, scoring 75 goals and 87 assists for 162 points.

During his first season with the Stars in 2023/24, Naas was the EIHL’s top goalscorer in the regular season, scoring 32 goals in 54 games. He was also Stars' top goalscorer (24) and points-scorer (50) in the 2025/26 season.

Starting his career in his native Minnesota, Naas had four seasons in United States High School system, spending two years with Blake School and then a further two seasons at Benilde-St. Margaret's School where he was team captain in his final season.

Naas then moved to the NCAA, spending four seasons with the University of Connecticut Huskies. During his time with the Huskies, Naas played 143 games, scoring 49 goals and 28 assists for 77 points.

In his final season in Connecticut, Naas signed an amateur tryout contract with Cleveland Monsters of the AHL. He made his professional debut with the Monsters in March 2018 and went on to play 12 games, scoring four goals and three assists.

The following season saw Naas join Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL, playing 60 games and scoring 27 points. He also played 10 games for Texas Stars in the AHL.

Naas continued to ice for Idaho in 2019/20, playing a further 46 games before being traded to Kalamazoo Wings, also of the ECHL, and playing seven games.

The 2020/21 season saw him travel to play in Europe for the first time, icing for Tranås AIF in Sweden’s third-tier HockeyEttan, playing 25 games and scoring six points.

Naas stayed in Europe the following season after signing for Amiens in the French Ligue Magnus. He played 52 games in all competitions, scoring 24 goals and 23 assists for 47 points.

Naas returned to the United States in 2022/23 to sign for Savannah Ghost Pirates in their inaugural ECHL season. Wearing an A on his jersey, Naas played 65 games, scoring 11 goals and 16 assists for 27 points.

His move to the Elite League and Dundee came in summer 2023. After a very successful first season on Tayside, Naas signed for EHC Freiburg in DEL2 for the 2024/25 season. He played 25 games in Germany, scoring 10 points before returning to Dundee for the remainder of the season in December 2024.

Naas returned to the Stars for the 2025/26 season, his third year with the club. Now he leaves Stars and remains in the Elite League with Panthers. We look forward to welcoming him to Nottingham in August.
